Sandy Haven

The paintings of Neil Crowther capture colours, light and form of the Pembrokeshire landscape with remarkable intensity. The beach at Sandy Haven, Lambston Church, the dramatic Rickett's Head near Newgale, the cliff rock formations of Marloes, amongst other locations, have become iconic of the area and the painters style.

Landscape and weather, waves and clouds with the blue sky of the Welsh coast are brilliantly depicted in glowing colours. The paintings echo the changing quality of Pembrokeshire light; the softness of early morning, the rich stillness of dusk and the fresh windswept skies of the coast. Added to the light is the solidity and form of the land, the patterns of nature and the beauty of the place.

Neil Crowther trained at the Skade School of Art, University College, London, where he was awarded the William Coldstream Prize. He has lived, painted and taught in Pembrokeshire since the 1970's.
